Complete Streets for Downtown Los Angeles
The Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) formed the Complete Streets Working Group in the Summer of 2011 to explore innovative design ideas to improve our DTLA neighborhood streets for all users. Our efforts focus on bringing together the diverse array of folks in DTLA to envision livable, balanced streets that are friendly for people who walk, drive, take transit, ride a bike, own businesses, walk dogs, shop, dine, tour and work here, just to name a few. We start by re-imagining the roadway as an opportunity to shift the balance from a priority on efficient vehicle movement by re-purposing street space to augment public space assets, calm traffic, increase safety and encourage a lively streetscene. It can be done!
